Registration to volunteer with us has now closed - the Cumbrian walking and running community has really stepped up to support this project and we've had many more volunteers put themselves forward than can take part this time. Thank you very much for your interest in getting involved.

INOV8 x The Ramblers
Forged in the fells of Lake District, the outdoors is INOV8’s natural playground and we are passionate about the benefits of time spent in nature. This is a passion we share with the Ramblers, a charity dedicated to removing barriers so everyone can enjoy walking in green spaces, and to preserving and improving hundreds of thousands of miles of well-loved paths, tracks and trails across England, Scotland, and Wales.
INOV8 and the Ramblers are now joining up for a special project.
The Cumbria Way
The Cumbria Way is a long-distance walking route through some of England’s most stunning landscapes. The 71-mile route links the historic Cumbrian towns of Ulverston and Carlisle, crossing the Lake District via Coniston Water, Great Langdale, Borrowdale, Derwent Water, Skiddaw Forest and Caldbeck.
The route was created in the 1970s by local Ramblers volunteers. In 2007 the whole route was waymarked, but since then most of the signs have gone missing or fallen into disrepair. Last year Ramblers volunteers from Ulverston began replacing the waymarking, working through the winter to improve the route for everyone who uses it.

Volunteers Needed
Now, the Ramblers need the help of the local walking and running community to finish the job, and they’ve asked us to help.
The higher, remoter section of the route between Keswick and Caldbeck, including the bad-weather low-level alternative route, still needs to be waymarked. But first the Ramblers need to know what’s up there.
They need volunteers to head out onto the paths, record what they find, and report back, so they know where new signs need to go.
INOV8 are supporting this project to improve our local paths by offering all volunteers a free VENTURELITE waterproof jacket to say thank you for their efforts.
How To Get Involved
To take part you’ll need to register with the Ramblers and attend (or watch-back) an online briefing on Tuesday 31st March at 7pm. It'll be about 30 minutes and on Teams. Then, if you’re still happy to take part, you’ll be given a 2-3 mile section of the route to recce. You should visit your section of the route any time before 20th April and complete the Rambler’s survey, taking pictures of what you find.
Some sections of the route are close to the road, others will require a longer walk/run/bike in before you reach your part of the path.
Once you’ve sent your data in, the Ramblers will send you a code to get your free INOV8 VENTURELITE waterproof jacket, ready for your next adventure.
